BIG BROTHER and his LITTLE SISTER

When Paul and I met, Wesley had just turned 4. 2 years later Paul and I got married and Wesley was 6. After we got married we began talking about having a baby. I of course wanted one right away, but Paul wanted to wait. I kept reminding Paul that I didn't want the kids to be too far apart in age. At the time we were renting a 2 bedroom condo in San Dimas that was pretty small. 2 years later we decided to move into with my mom to save some money, pay some bills off, and be finacially prepared to buy a house. We lived with her for about a year. That makes Wesley 8. While living with my mom we got pregnant. My due date was January 12. That would make Wesley 9, by the time his little sister would be born. A huge age difference. Both Paul and I were a little worried how Wesley would be when the baby was born. He had been an only child for 9 years and here comes along a baby, what would that do to him. Getting pregnant was just the push that we needed to start looking for a house. We found a house pretty fast and moved into our house in Sepetember of 2010. 4 months later Emmalyn was born. Wesley was super excited, but also didn't know quite how to act around her. As time has gone by he has adjusted and just adores his little sister. He sits next to her in the car making sure she is O.K., he helps me pick out clothes for her at TARGET (our favorite store), he likes to hold her, he loves to read books to her, and he loves to talk and play with her. Even though there is an age difference, it couldn't be more perfect. Wes is the perfect big brother and Emmalyn has a great brother to look up to.

One Month Doctors Appointment

Emmalyn had her 1 month old doctors appointment today. When she was born she weighed
6 lbs. 9 oz. and at her 2 week appointment she weighed 6 lbs. 14oz. and today she weighed a whopping 8lbs. 13 oz. She has gained over 2 pounds in 1 month. I think she takes after her daddy. She has also grown an inch. The doctor says she is doing wonderful and I can let her sleep during the night until she wakes on her own. Yay, more sleep!!!

I am so excited for her 2 month appointment to see how she is doing, but she will also be receiving her first set of shots :( and will be getting her ears pierced :). I can't wait to see her with her ears pierced. Girls are so much fun!!!

1 month old!!

I can't believe that our baby girl is already a month old. How time flies. She is a perfect fit into our family. We all have been adjusting quite well to having a new addition to the family. I can finally say we are on a routine and I am managing being at home with Wes and Emmalyn. Let's see how long it lasts :). During the mornings while big brother is at school Emmalyn and I keep pretty busy. Mondays we go to the grocery store. Tuesdays we go to our Mommy and Me class. Wednesdays we go for a long walk in the neighborhood with Chloe or take a stroll at Victoria Gardens. Thursdays we spend it with my mom. Fridays we clean the house and do laundry. For this first month Paul has been working part time. He has been at home on Tuesdays and Thursdays which has been wonderful, but starting this week he is back to work full time. I am loving staying at home and am not looking forward to going back to work. Luckily my mom and my mother-in-law will be taking turns watching her. These are a few things that we have learned about our little girl.
  • She dislikes baths
  • She can sleep through anything: Wesley's basketball games, the T.V., Wesley's friends playing and running thru the house
  • She is an awesome eater and eats every 3 hours
  • During the night she sleeps really well between her feedings allowing mom to get a good night sleep
  • She loves to rest her head on daddy's shoulder
  • She dislikes being swaddled, but once she is she goes right to sleep :)
  • She likes sitting in her swing, but dislikes when it starts swinging
  • She loves to listen to music
  • She is lifting her head up on her own
  • She is a sucker, but not ready to give her a pacifier yet
  • When awake she is very alert. She looks right at you with her big blue/brown eyes
  • She smiled for the first time today and is interacting more with mom, dad, Wes, and the grandparents

She has her one month appointment tomorrow. I am anxious to see what she weighs now.
